SalukiLAN is a BYOC LAN Party PLUS Event hosted by Southern Illinois University Carbondale’s student chapter of ACM, in conjunction with the SIUC department of computer science. The PLUS means this party isn’t just for us computer folks!
Not only will we have a high speed network setup to host some intense gaming, with local servers for all major games, but we’ll be having a dedicated console gaming center for your Xbox, PlayStation, or Wii.
Thanks to our generous sponsors we will have some free giveaways!
This year we are trying something different by sending our proceeds to Child's Play, a charity dedicated helping children's hospitals, so we are asking for everyone's support through either donations or purchasing t-shirts at the event.
No matter who you are there is something you can enjoy at this huge event! So get those computers and consoles warmed up and stretch out your fingers for 24 hours of gaming!!!
The Venue this year is bigger and better than ever! We're taking up Ballrooms B, C, and D, which gives us enough room for 200 PC gamers, and 50-60 console gamers, with a spacious lounge for movies, sleeping, or just hanging out. We've got a lot of room, so be sure to invite all your friends this year!
If you would like to participate in the LAN event, please bring the following:
1. your computer (includes tower, monitor, keyboard, mouse, cables, software, games, headphones, etc...)
2. a great attitude
Please do not bring:
- UPS Backups
- powered speakers
For console people:
- bringing your personal controller for your Xbox 360 or PS3 is highly recommended.
- if you would like to, you may bring your console system. Chances are someone may want to play a multi player game as well.
- you are encouraged to bring your own TV as well, just remember that all your equipment is your responsibility.
What we will provide:
- Refreshments (chips and soda)
- Tables and chairs
- Highspeed Network
- University security provided by Saluki Patrol and SIUC's Campus Police
